We don't usually plan something big for Labor Day, but luckily we have great friends who we decided to head out of town with this year. Saturday we drove to Fredericksburg and had lots of fun walking the antique shops with the Hudsons (well Taryn and I had lots of fun) and the kids loved the toy store at the end. After our fill of shopping we headed to Canyon of the Eagles on Lake Buchanan to set up camp where we met up with the Walkers. The three little ones had lots of fun playing in the dirt and logs with the scorpions and racoons. In the morning the guys took the kids, minus Scarlet, kayaking on the lake. Asher cried the entire time because he had to wear a life jacket, but he got used to it by the next day at the river. After packing up camp we drove to Inks Lake where the older boys and dads could cliff jump. The bottom was a little rockier than they had hoped so after their initial jumps they headed in. We had a little picnic for lunch and then headed to New Braunfels so we could meet up with a bunch of our ward the next morning to tube down the river. We had lots of fun tubing down the river. Asher wasn't too sure about it at the beginning or when he was woken up with waves of water splashing him after a little chute, but all in all we had lots of fun. When we were done the huge group headed to Gruene for lunch and of course I did a little shopping while we waited. I managed to find a cute wooden beverage crate at the Antique shop, a book for baby girl, and a new tractor book for Asher (it was a huge hit!). Asher was so worn out he managed to fall asleep in about 2 minutes on the way home which was great. We had so much fun and can't wait for next Labor Day! (We forgot the camera so here are a few pics from the phone - we'll steal some photos from Taryn when she gets them up)
