Trunk or Treat

Last Saturday we went to the ward trunk or treat. Free food, lots of people, and not enough candy. Some kids probably went around 3 or 4 times. Asher was a monkey and he carried a banana around all night. Ryan was the monkey staff and Brianna was a witch. Grandma Reed went and sat on the banana, luckily it was getting late and we were on our way out. We're going tomorrow night with the Petersons. We'll get a picture of the witch and the Grandma.

Guitar

Ryan finally pulled out his guitar a week or so ago and decided to see what Asher would think about it. Asher loves to sit there and watch his daddy play.

Dewberry Farms

Saturday we took advantage of the beautiful day and cooler temps and went to Dewberry Farms. We had a lot of fun and Asher had his first trip to the pumpkin patch. He was able to feed the goats (well Ryan actually fed them while holding Asher), saw the farm animals, rode on the barrel train, went through the corn maze and picked a pumpkin from the patch. We had a great time and enjoyed spending the weekend as a family. Here are some pictures from our day.

6 Months Old!!

Wow - it is hard to believe that Asher is already six months old. He had his check-up on Friday. Here are his stats:
Weight - 18lbs 15 oz (76%)
Height 28in (93%)
Head Circumfrence 17 1/2in (70%)

He is growing fast and Ryan is watching his head circumfrence closely to reach 19 1/2in so he can put a helmet on Asher and have him ride in the bike trailer. He is still our little chunky monkey, but he isn't gaining quite as fast with all his jumping and moving about.

A few of Asher's favorite things right now are:
  • His jumper
  • His green triangle
  • Being outside
  • Sitting up
  • Apples, sweet potatoes, and pears

He is sitting up really well and can turn himself in a circle on his tummy. I am sure he'll be scooting in no time. We are just so glad that he is healthy!!

Camping

(Can you tell he is an only child - gotta have a camping shirt for the campout!)
This weekend Ryan was so excited to go camping. With the cold and rainy weather I wasn't too excited, but it turned out to be a great weekend. Friday late afternoon we drove up to Inks Lake and met our friends the Hudsons. We set up camp when we arrived but, unfortunately everything was a little soggy from the day of rain so we couldn't get a fire going. We ended up cooking our foil dinners on our camping stove, but they were still very yummy. Saturday we hiked around the park and then the boys decided to take the kayak out on the lake. They also decided it was warm enough to swim, but they sure looked cold after getting out! That night we headed to Llano for some barbecue at Coopers. Then we headed back to camp for my favorite part of camping - s'mores. Luckily, the boys got a fire going enough for everyone to get their fill. Sunday morning after breakfast it started raining so Ryan literally threw everything into the back of the car and we headed home. Asher was great during the whole trip and really loved being outside so much. On the other hand he loved being held all weekend too so we are slowly getting him used to being put down again. We had so much fun - thanks for coming with us Hudsons!
These two are so cute!!

Asher's New Favorite Thing

Asher now loves to drink out of a cup. He especially wants your cup when you're holding him and likes the water cold. Ryan loves giving him his new favorite thing.

Antiques and Rain and Flats, Oh My!

I delayed my birthday celebration until this weekend so we could go to the antique show up in Round Top. It was even better than last year! Thursday we drove into Warrenton and all you could see was a sea of tents. We didn't come this way last time so we parked and started scouring for some deals. Taryn, her sister and Truman followed us up and were excited to start hunting for some treasures too. Ryan is definitely hoping we'll find some more girls next year and make it a girls weekend - I wouldn't mind! We shopped the whole day and came home with a cute old school desk for super cheap to start the playroom deocrating. Friday I subbed in the morning and then we left after lunch to go to a few more shows in Round Top. We visitied the Big Red Barn show which we didn't see last year. They had some really unique things, but definitely not playroom prices. I just love antique furniture! We ended the day with one more find for the playroom. I found some old chicken nests and Ryan will be sanding and polyurethaning them for me in November while I am gone. I am super excited with my cheap finds! After all the fun we headed to Canyon Lake for Ryan's Triathlon Saturday morning. Conditions weren't too great on Saturday as it was rainy and cold for the entire race. I had packed Asher shorts so he stayed in his jammies until we left and looked super cozy in his jacket and blankets. Ryan did great in the swim, but the bike section wasn't too nice to him. He got a flat tire but changed it pretty quickly. As soon as he started riding he got another flat! He was only 4 miles from the bike finish so decided to run (in his bike shoes!). He ran about 2 miles before one of the following cars helped patch his flat and he finished the bike section. He did well on the run and would have been pretty close to his time if it wasn't for the flats. We had an awesome weekend and Asher was so great. Ryan has another fun weekend planned for next week too. Check back next week to find out what.
