Strawberry Picking

Last weekend we went to Froberg farms to pick strawberries. I had a couple of baptisms to attend before leaving so Ryan, Asher and Susan ate lunch at the church and waited for me to get done. Of course Asher decided to have a little mistep and fall face first into the cement so you'll notice a bruise forming in a lot of the pictures. Once we got to the farm Asher figured out what to do really fast although he wasn't too happy about waiting until after we paid to eat the strawberries. We let him have a few before and that just wasn't enough! We came home with two boxes of strawberries to make freezer jam. I had never made jam before so I picked up the easiest pectin I could find - it didn't require boiling and only took a 1/3 of the sugar the others called for. It turned out really yummy and Ryan is hooked on it! I can't wait to go picking for the next fruits that come out!

Petersons Come To Town

Our good friends the Petersons came to town for Easter and the week following. Their little boy is just two days older than Asher and they hadn't had a chance to meet yet. They had a lot of fun together and we were even able to celebrate Jack's birthday together at an Astros' game. Asher thought he was big stuff sitting in his seat and clapping at anything going on. We spent a lot of time eating good food, sitting in the hot tub, and playing that we can't wait until next time they come to town!

Easter

Yes, I am trying to catch up now that Asher's birthday has past. Easter morning my parents and Jaiden were still here so the Easter bunny hid some eggs for Jaiden to find. He didn't bring candy, but there was money inside! He also hid a basket for Asher with some books inside. It took Asher a while to find his basket. There was a lot of hinting and pointing! We had a delicious Easter dinner at the Peterson's house and another easter egg hunt by Grandma and Grandpa Reed. After all the fun I had to take my parents and Jaiden to the airport. We were sad to see them go, but can't wait to see them in Hawaii in a few weeks!!

One!!

(thanks for the picture Taryn!)
It is hard to believe that Asher turned one today, the year has gone by so quickly! We love having him in our family and love watching him learn and grow. Since we already had his birthday party we had a family dinner tonight with just us and his Grandma Reed. We made homemade pizza, which of course Asher loved, and then had cake and ice cream. We let Asher have a piece to dig into and once the frosting was on his hands he wanted nothing to do with it!! He wanted that sticky stuff off his hands and was waving them all around. He decided he wanted a few bites once I put a piece on my plate and enjoyed a few bites of ice cream too. Here are a few of his new favorite things:

  • He loves climbing the ladder to the fort on the swingset
  • He loves dancing to music and always walks to the playroom and points right at the stereo when you ask him if he wants to dance
  • He loves food and is an awesome eater
  • He loves to be outside (even today he went and sat in the rain and ran to the swingset while it was pouring and then screamed when I made him come inside)
  • He loves to explore and wants to walk everywhere and anywhere
  • He loves playing with his Dad when he comes home from work

Asher we love you so much and can't wait to make lots more memories with you!!

Yes, it is pouring outside

First Fishing Trip

Later on Saturday after his birthday party Asher got to go on his first fishing trip. Ryan couldn't come so Grandpa Ashe rigged up his new fishing pole that he got Asher and set it in the water. When he got his first bite Grandma helped him reel it in and he didn't not like what he saw on the other end. It was so funny when he peered around the fishing pole to try to figure out what it was. Luckily, Jaiden was there too since he caught 6 fish that night, so she took her turns reeling them in. We had lots of fun and I am sure Ryan can't wait to take him next time!

Birthday Bash

We decided to have Asher's birthday bash while my mom was here for Antique weekend and my dad could come for the weekend. I had been getting things ready for a few weeks before so the night before we just had to make some cupcakes, get some food ready and finish a few little things. It had been forecasted to rain since we planned the party, but we lucked out and had a great day on Saturday. We did a cowboy carnival theme and had lots of fun at the park. We ate hot dogs and pulled pork with lots of different sides and then brought out the hit of the party - a cotton candy machine! I think Mabel takes the cake with her love for cotton candy that day - I think she had 3 of them! Asher didn't really care for the texture, but he loved his cupcake later on. We played a few cowboy games having stick horse races, playing horseshoes, bean bag throw and roping the pony. I was so glad the kids loved the stick horses and loved taking them home with their cowboy hats. Asher had a lot of family and friends there and we are so glad that they could celebrate with us. We finished the party with cupcakes and gifts and thank everyone for all the awesome gift that Asher received. He sure loves all his new toys and books! We weren't too good at taking pictures and celebrating so if anyone has some that they want to share we would love you to send them to us. Here are some we were able to get!

Antique Weekend

So, I am a little behind in blogging with having family in town and then good friends here the next week I'll try to recap a little. Two Wednesdays ago my mom and Jaiden flew into town and Thursday morning we headed to Round Top for Antique Weekend. We had a lot of fun looking through anything and everything and by the end of the day we were all exhausted. Jaiden even took a ride in Asher's stroller for a while near the end of the day (yes her legs were hanging way out of the stroller)! Jaiden decided she had all the fun she could handle and we dropped her off with the Cobbs Friday morning to have some fun and then we headed up to Round Top again. I found a few things for my kitchen - an old candy scale, old milk bottles and crate, and some canisters with wood lids from a candy store. I am still working on putting them exactly where I want them. My mom found quite a few things also and Asher seemed to enjoy the antique show since he got some treats for tagging along that he doesn't usually get. When we got home Friday my dad had come into town so we had to have Lupe Tortillas for dinner per request. I know my mom can't wait to come again for the next one!
