Playroom

So, we finally finished Asher's playroom last week. We had most of it done for a while, but still needed to hang one of the Texas maps that we ordered. Steve Holleman made the frames for our maps and they turned out awesome! It is so nice to have all the toys in one room; our house stays much cleaner now. Here are some pics:
Ryan thought he needed to stand in the picture so everyone could see how big and awesome this map is. (Yes I think this is Ryan's favorite thing in our house!)
Hanging above the chalkboard are some awesome pictures that Isaac and Beckam colored and painted for Asher. We love those boys!

Huntsville State Park

Saturday it was finally a nice day outside so we decided to take our good friends' advice and head to Huntsville State Park. We hiked about 8 miles and had a lot of fun. (Ryan always seems to underestimate how far we'll go!) On the way home we grabbed some dinner and stopped by the Woodlands Mall to get some new sheets for Asher. They didn't have what we wanted, but I did find Asher's cousin, David, a rashguard so they can match on our trip to Hawaii! It was a great day!

First Haircut

Friday before Ryan's basketball game we decided to give Asher his first haircut. He didn't seem to mind too much, but I started freaking out as soon as Ryan starting cutting! I'll have to wait for it to grow out again for his mohawk, but his dad really likes the new cut. Of course he still looks super cute!

Valentines

This year Asher made cookies to take to his friends. There are three of them in our ward that are very close in age and have lots of fun together. Asher had lots of fun helping make them, especially since he got a few tastes of the yummy cookies. I forgot to take a picture so I stole a picture from Taryn's blog and stole another one of the four little ones together too. Aren't they cute? (They are watching the big kids on a trampoline) We made a few cookies in XO shapes besides the hearts, but Ryan only let Asher give them to Scarlet since she's the only girl!

Valentines Day

We had a fun Valentines weekend. I'll start with Thursday. Grandma Reed came over for dinner with some friends that are new to Katy. We had a good time and the food was great.
Ryan was off on Friday but it was too cold to do anything so we just hung out around the house. Then we watched Ryan play basketball Friday night, it was a close game but we pulled out a victory.
Saturday we went for Valentine's lunch at Pradaria, a Brazilian Churrascaria. The food was great, Asher loved the cheese bread. Lunch is only $20, with all the same meats as dinner, i think it's the best value around for a Churrascaria. Then we watched the olympics on Saturday night.

On Sunday we went to Church, then came home and gave Asher his valentines gift. Brianna and Taryn made some valentine sacks that you hang on the chair. Brianna saved lots of money making them herself instead of buying them from a rip off store. Asher got some toy trucks and a book. We had heart shaped pancakes for dinner with bacon & hash browns.

"Pregnancy Brain" (No I am not pregnant!)

I heard a ton of people talking about pregnancy brain and how they would forget everything and mix dates and times up. I never really had any of that...until today. I guess I should call it "Baby brain" or something like that. I needed some tomatoes for dinner tonight and figured Asher and I would just run to the store. We get to the store and I go to get him out of his carseat, but then remembered I had printed a few coupons so I went to move his door and go the passenger side for them and what happened...the door closed and YES it was locked!! So, there I was in the parking lot with no cell phone and my baby locked in the car. Of course there is a code on the driver side, but I don't know it. Ryan does, but of course I don't know his number because it is programmed into my cell phone that is sitting next to Asher. So, the lady getting out of her car next to me couldn't really understand what I was asking her to do by running to the store and having them call the fire department so she stood by my car and I ran up to the store. Luckily, the employee outside had her cell phone and let me call 911. Let me first say that the fire department was there in about 5 minutes and they were awesome! Asher didn't even know anything was going on, but the 911 operatore was an idiot!! I told her where I was and she kept saying "the one in Katy" when I had told her my cross streets and that it was Richmond. She must of said it three times - I was starting to cry at this point and she was definitely making it worse! Luckily I was in front of the store and found the freaking address for her. Once she dispatched the fire department she asked if I wanted to stay on the phone with her- are you kidding me! The store manager was really nice and waited with me telling me how she locked her now 16 year old son in the car during the summer! So, yes I am super grateful it was cool outside today and that he was still strapped into this seat. So, just like when we locked ourselves out of our house and told everyone to get a spare key (but not everyone listened to use) you should all know your car codes if you have one and your emergency numbers, not just have them programmed into your phone! I have definitely learned my lesson!! Hope you all had a better day than me!!

9 Months Old

Asher had his 9 month old check-up on Friday so I thought I would wait until then to do his 9 month old post. His stats were:

Weight: 20 lbs 4 oz (40th percentile)
Height: 29 3/4" (87th percentile)
Head circumference: 18"

We are hoping that his Grandpa Ashe gave him his height, but we'll have to see. Asher has learned so much in the past few months so here are a few of his favorite things:

  • He loves when we sing Popcorn Popping and he does the hand motions (I'll have to post a video)
  • He is army crawling everywhere and loves to cruise around the couches and his music table
  • He is a super eater - he will pretty much eat anything but he really loves his animal crackers and nutrigrain bars
  • He loves all his new toys from Christmas, but the door stoppers seem to grab his attention whenever he sees them
  • He loves to go outside and loves to go to the park - we need the warm weather again!
  • Loves to share, especially his half eaten food!

We love watching him grow and learn new things. We can't wait to see what the next few months brings!
