4 Month Stats

Asher had his 4 month check-up yesterday. We really like our pediatrician and Asher did really well showing her his hands (he loves to lift them in the air and stare at them and then clasp them together), his rolling, and did really well getting his shots. He just keep getting bigger and bigger!! Here are his latest stats:
Weight: 17 lbs 11 1/4 oz (88%)
Height: 25 1/4 " (52%)
Head: 43 1/2 cm (75%)

4 Months

Asher turned 4 months yesterday! We are having so much fun watching him learn and grow. He has his next checkup in a couple of weeks so I'll have to update his stats then, but here is what he is up to:

  • He likes to roll to his side and play with his toys
  • He loves to sit in the Bumbo and have family dinner with us (he is eyeing us the entire time we eat so we'll be starting him on food soon)
  • He loves to try to watch tv when he is laying on his playmat
  • He loves the song "Where is Thumbkin" - especially the run away part
  • He loves to stay up late with dad when mom goes out with friends
  • He has found his voice and loves to talk (well it sounds like screaming - he'll fit right in with his Ashe cousins)
  • He loves to laugh - especially when playing peek-a-boo
This picture says it all

Summer

Not much has been going on lately with it being so hot this summer. During the week we head to the gym in the morning - luckily Asher usually just takes a nap in the infant area. Then we head to pool with the friends from our ward on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The other days we usually just hang around the house and try to get any housework done so we can enjoy our weekend. Here is a picture of Asher just chillin' in mom and dad's bed while I was getting ready for the gym - he loves our bed. Hope you are all enjoying your last days of summer!

Just So You Know...

If you forget something for church and you are already in the driveway with the car running do not take your house key off your key chain to run back in and not reattach it. Later you'll go to your sisters for dinner and realize you do not have a key to get back into your house when you arrive home. Then you'll have to go next door to your neighbors and attempt to get a locksmith out on a Sunday night, none of which will come. Your neighbor will then try to help you jimmy your lock to no avail. You'll then have to take your screaming child, who has missed his bedtime, back to your sisters. You'll leave your wife and child there to meet the fire department, who says they do lockouts, at your house. They won't be able to get in and you'll come back still locked out. Finally, you will be able to contact a locksmith who will meet you at your house and for $150 you'll finally be able to get back in. So, for everyone - that extra key you've been meaning to hide in the garage or give to your neighbor, go ahead and do it this week!

You Know You're a Blogger When...

Asher and I go to infant time at the library on Tuesdays. A few weeks ago the woman in charge was telling the group about the summer reading program. She made sure to tell all of us new moms how our babies could get their first trophy. All they had to do was have 20 books read to them during the summer. I first thought why would a baby need a trophy, but then being the blogger that I am realized Asher needed his first trophy so I could put it on the blog. Asher loves books, especially his spanish book "Toca, Toca 1,2,3" and his new Dr. Seuss books. Can't you just see how excited he is!

Acrobats and Astros

On Friday Ryan and I were able to go to the Cirque du Soleil show Saltimbanco. It was fabulous! There were some amazing acrobats, a bike rider (doing handstands on his handlebars, riding backwards, etc.) and a juggler (who juggled 7 balls at one time and bounced them between his legs at the same time) to just name a few of the great performers. If you haven't seen one of their shows you should definitely go. Thank you to Carrie who was so nice to watch Asher for us! On Saturday we took Asher to his first Astros game. Of course we had to get him an Astros outfit for the occasion, but Grandma Ashe has already said she was starting to look for a Diamondbacks outfit! We had a good time and thanks to the Peterson's who invited us to go with them. Today we had the Peterson's over for dinner. It makes Sundays so much more fun. We are so glad that they live close - Asher loves to have his cousins over. Hope next weekend is just as fun!
