Growing Up Too Fast

Asher is growing up so fast! He has started sitting up on his own and grabbing at everything. Today was the first day that we took him around in the stroller without the car seat. There was a cold front that came in today so we dressed him up with his shoes, jacket, and everything. He looked so grown up! We went to the park and stopped by his friend Truman's house. We can't wait for fall weather. Here are some recent pictures of our fast growing boy. (Thanks aunt poodle for the cute jacket!)

No Veggies For Me

We started Asher on baby food the past few weeks. So far he has had carrots and peas a few different times. He does not care for either - no matter how many times he tries them. He actually shudders when he eats the peas. The past few times I have been eating lunch he has wanted what I was eating so I gave him a slice of apple. He loves it! Today he wanted me to hold the slice in his mouth for almost 20 minutes. I finally got his arm in the right spot to have him hold it himself so I could actually finish eating. Ooh La La

Monday night our good friends the Hudsons invited us to go to Ooh La La with them to celebrate mine and Taryn's birthday. We had a good time and enjoyed yummy desserts. Thanks for inviting us! Thanks for everyone that wished me a happy birthday last week. I can't wait to go to the antique weekend next week and try to find something great to start designing the play room. I will definitely post some pics when I buy some birthday gifts!!

Pura Vida!

Costa Rica was a blast. It would have been fun to stay longer but it was time to come home to my wife and son. I owe Brianna a BIG thank you for staying home with Asher for 5 days all by herself. Here is a quick summary of the trip:

• Alex and his wife Aricelly drove us from San Jose to the beach on Friday. They are great hosts and its always fun to hang with the locals instead of taking the tourist bus.
• went surfing and tried to teach dad and Alex to surf. The surf is fantastic and the local surfers don't mind the gringos riding their waves.
• tried some new foods (raw turtle eggs, some really good fruit i've never seen before, fried whole crawfish, gallo pinto, chorrilladas)
• saw a bunch of sea turtles laying their eggs.
• went 4x4ing across a river and up the mountains
• helped some locals make maza from home grown corn. then ate some corn tortillas (chorrilladas) from the fresh ground maza.
• saw cooper
• good quality father son time with dad
• freshened up my spanish
• looked at some properties

We're So Glad When Daddy Comes Home...

We picked Ryan up last night from his trip to Costa Rica. It sounded like they had a lot of fun. They surfed, swam, went 4X4ing and more. Ryan of course brought back some gifts. Asher loves his turtle beach towel and I am sure he'll be taking it to Hawaii in May. Ryan also brought back a really pretty wood salad bowl with tongs and 6 individual bowls for me. I love it. When he gets a chance he'll upload some pictures. We're so glad he's home!!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Peterson family on their new little one - Leah Bluebonnet Peterson. Bluebonnet is adorable and so little (especially when your holding Asher the chunky monkey). She definitely had her own agenda and decided to be born in the front seat of their car on Friday morning. Maybe this little one will be a little Bethany! Everyone is home and doing well. Congratulations again!

Presumptuous

Asher has decided that cereal no longer helps him to go longer at night without sleeping. I knew as I wrote that last post that I was pushing my luck blogging about his great sleeping. I am in no way complaining about the two nights of great sleep that I did get or the two days this week that he took a nap that I enjoyed so much. So. I'll have to be content getting up twice a night remembering those glorious nights! I am crossing my fingers though that he can have another great night sleep next weekend while Ryan is in Costa Rica. Maybe the carrots or peas he gets this week will help!
