Let the Guessing Begin

Friday we had an ultrasound to make sure Asher was getting ready to come. He is head down and everything looks good, but he is still up in my ribs. He was moving his mouth during the ultrasound trying to say something (he must take after me!). The doctor also double checked it was a boy and no changes there. So, I have set up a game to keep track of everyone's guesses for his due date, height, and weight. (The link is off to the side at expectnet.com). She didn't give us any hints to the height or weight so that will be up to you. There will be some prize for the winner. I don't know what it will be, but my mom really wanted a prize if she wins. I will leave the game up until around the 5th for you to get your guesses in! Good luck!

Birth Announcements

No, it's not what you're thinking...no baby yet, but I did find a super cute birth announcement yesterday. So, if you want one when Asher arrives send me your address or leave it in a comment so I can be sure to add you to the list. (If you got a Christmas card then I should have your address unless you've moved).

San Marcos

It started raining on Thursday and continued through Sunday. On Saturday we didn't have any plans and figured we could stay in the house all day or make a day trip to San Marcos and the outlet malls. I couldn't believe Ryan agreed to go, but I didn't know he needed new basketball shoes, so it didn't take much convincing. It rained almost all the way there, but the day turned out really great. It didn't rain a drop and it was really cool, which was nice for a huge pregnant lady walking around outside. Little did we know (until talking to Ryan's dad yesterday) that this weekend was a holiday in Mexico so the stores were pretty crowded. It wasn't anything compared to Christmas time, but we were surprised at the number of people. We spent almost 5 hours walking around and found a few cute things for Surf - including a sweatsuit outfit with a surfboard, woody, and "Surf's Up", some sunglasses for the pool this summer, etc. Ryan also found some basketball shoes which he'll break in tomorrow night. It was nice to make a spontaneous day trip since we know that won't be happening in a month!

We have an ultrasound on Friday to see if Asher is in the right position to make his way into the world. He is still really high up in my ribs, so I don't think he is in any hurry to come. We'll put up an update on Friday and see who can guess the closest to his birthdate!

Pump It Up

We took Caroline and Mabel to pump it up for their birthdays. (We were going to take Mabel to paint pottery a few weeks ago, but she didn't want to come with just us - so we were surprised how excited she was to go with us when we pulled up on Friday). The girls had a ton of fun with Ryan on the inflatables - I thought it best if I stayed off of them this time! We love to take the girls out for their birthdays and can't wait until next year!! After we were done playing we met Carrie and Shawn at Cheesecake Factory. Thanks for taking us out! And then we made one last stop to see the ice skaters before heading home. It was a funfilled Friday!!

Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend starting on Thursday when my mom and sister Monya flew into Houston. When my mom visits we have to go to Lupe's Tortillas so we headed there for dinner. Friday we did some shopping. We eventually found some cute shirts for Monya after she tried on one that had my mom and I almost peeing our pants as she looked like Dollly Parton's daughter! We also found a few more things for Asher of course too. We also enjoyed having dinner with Ryan's parents, Bethany, Mabel and Annie. Saturday two of my friends in the ward, Benjeline and Kristin, had a wonderful shower for Asher and myself. They put together such a great shower! Asher got so many cute things and some things we still really needed.

Thanks to all our family and friends who came to the shower!! We really appreciate it! (For my sisters that couldn't come - this is the most that you need to see of my huge belly!)

My mom also brought the completed blanket and valance for Asher's room. It really made the room great! Now we just have to get some pictures of Ryan surfing over the dresser.

Ryan smoked a brisket on Friday night and it turned out fabulously! It was one of his best yet. I know all of us really enjoyed it. Thanks for staying up all night Ryan!

Rodeo 2009

Wednesday afternoon I picked up Ryan from work and we headed to the rodeo. I always love going to the rodeo and Houston always has a good selection of concerts to choose from. We had a lot of fun watching the rodeo - although no one made it the 8 seconds for the bull riders it was still great. I don't think I have seen Ryan laugh so hard in quite some time as he did at the Mutton Bustin and Calf Scramble. Some girl did have her pants stepped on by one of the calves in the scramble and had them ripped all the way down the side which had everyone laughing! But, the mutton bustin had him almost peeing his pants with 4-6 year olds trying to ride a sheep. I don't think he'll have much compassion for Asher's tumbles and falls! After the rodeo Alan Jackson was the perfomer. It was an awesome concert - he has so many great songs. We can't wait for next year!

So Close..

Well, Asher's room is finally close to being done. We hung the surfboards and picked up his dresser on Saturday. I still need to get his clothes in the dresser (luckily I washed them this week - so that is done). I still need a lamp or something and a few pictures of his dad surfing above the dresser and my mom is bringing his blanket and valance. The surfing fabric she used will tie everything together. Here is the new touches we did this week.
his new dresser

Ryan made these and even designed them - they sure turned out cute
